Short courses on grape growing and wine making.
The spirit of wine making! Saturday 22 October 2-5pm
Interested in making your own wine from those rambling vines in the back yard, or from hedgerow fruits? This afternoon’s taught session will enthuse the wine maker in all and demonstrate practical steps to transform ripening grapes and other fruits into a mellow tasting wine! There will be practical activity, tasting and introduction to equipment required. It will include an introduction to Organiclea’s vineyard project at the Hawkwood site and our custodianship of heritage Hungarian Tokai grapes in Walthamstow.
The course will be taught by Marko Bojcun, Organiclea’s vine worker who has been making wine from his Hackney vines for 20 years.
Fee: In advance £25 /£10 (benefits concession); £30 on the day. (Includes a little tasting!)
The vine trail: Growing and looking after grape vines
Sat 26 November, 9.30-4pm
This one day course will look at everything to do with growing grape vines, from their planting and growth training, to propagating new plants and specific pruning essentials. It will be based at Organiclea’s Hawkwood site, with learning practicals taking place at more established local vine growing sites. (A minibus will transport participants).

Fee: £60/ £40 / £20* [plus a small transportation cost].
Please bring a packed lunch.
*The highest fee is for those on an income over £15,000 per year
*The second fee is for those on an income below £15,000 per year
*The third fee is a full concession for anyone with savings less than £3000 and receiving a benefit.
